Inconel600 alloy is a nickel-chromium-iron-based solid solution strengthened alloy. It has good high temperature corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance, excellent cold and hot processing and welding properties, and has satisfactory thermal strength and high plasticity below 700°C. Inconel 600 material is the most commonly used material in structural engineering because it is very suitable for high temperatures above 1000°F (540°C). Inconel 600 is durable, stable, strong and corrosion resistant. Inconel 600 is also called a super alloy because of its strong characteristics, such as excellent performance under huge mechanical stress and temperature, and shows resistance to oxidation and creep. The alloy has excellent oxidation resistance at high temperature, and has good oxidation resistance and carbonation resistance stability at 1093 °C (but in a reducing atmosphere containing hydrogen sulfide, its upper limit temperature is 535 °C). It is very effective for the treatment of hydrogen chloride and chlorine gas at high temperature; hydrogen chloride can reach about 538°C, and chlorine gas can be used safely up to 510°C. This alloy also has very good corrosion resistance to nitrogen, hydrogen and carburizing, so it is used in various heat treatment furnaces.
Inconel 600 alloy does not harden due to heat treatment, only cold work strengthening, and annealing after cold working can soften the material. The softening temperature can be carried out between 871°C and 1149°C. Grain growth is very rapid at 982°C or higher, but a short stay at 1038°C softens the material without inappropriate grain growth.
